Ways to relax, how a mommy can get away for a day

Ways to relax and tips on how a mommy can get away when life becomes to much to handle. Learn of ways to find this time when no sitter is in site.

When staying home seems mundane and boring, there’s no need to throw in the towel. When life seems dull and you can’t handle one more game of patty cake, it’s time for a mommy break. Mommy breaks are great because they allow you to get away and relax. They allow mom time to re-coop and re-evaluate the role of being a stay-at-home mom. And sometimes, they allow just enough breathing room to remind mom that she is still an individual and valuable part of the community.

The hardest part about taking mommy breaks is justifying the time. When there is so much going on and so many things that need to get done, it’s often hard to justify taking a time out to relax. But, without that time out, you will find yourself beaten, tired, and worn to the bones. So, the next time you begin to crab for no apparent reason, ask yourself, " When was the last time I had a mommy break?"

So how do you go about getting this much needed break when there is no sitter in site?

· Ask your hubby to watch the kids. You’d be surprised at how an hour long trip to the grocery store can actually be relaxing.

· Swap an hour or two with another stay-at-home mom, once a week.

· Join a church Bible study that offers free childcare.

· Join your local Mothers of Preschoolers Program (MOPS).

· Enroll your child in Tiny Tots.

· Enroll your child in a two-day preschool program.

MOPS is a program specifically designed for mothers of preschool aged children, and is often sponsored by a local church. They meet one day a week, every other week and you don’t have to belong to the church to join. The kids go off to their age appropriate classes while moms head off to a relaxing event full of speakers, crafts, food, and adult conversation.

Tiny Tots is usually sponsored by the local Park and Rec Center, and is offered one day a week. It’s a chance for you to relax, while introducing your children to other children. It’s like scheduling a play date that you don’t have to monitor.
